Frequently asked questions

What on Earth is Hypnotherapy??

Hypnotherapy can be described as a form of guided meditation, it is deeply relaxing (many clients fall asleep).

Intrinsically, your conscious mind is pre-occupied or perhaps goes to sleep whilst your subconscious mind listens carefully and processes suggestions that we decide on together. It’s not magic, its not spiritual its not dangerous and you are in complete control.

Will I be barking like a dog? Or clicking like a chicken?

No, there is a big difference to stage hypnotists and clinical hypnotherapy. You are in control at all times, unless of course you want to start barking or clucking??

Does it have anything to do with mysticism or magic?

No, there is no magic, mysticism or woo woo involved at all. In fact, hypnotherapy is available on the NHS - but only for irritable bowel syndrome!

Does it actually work though?

Yes! There are many years of research and practice to prove the efficacy of hypnotherapy.

How much does it cost? It seems expensive!

I charge £65 for a session of hypnotherapy, the sessions are 1hour long, with the hypnotherapy lasting for appx 40-50 minutes. I offer a discount of 5% if three sessions are pre booked. Each session is crafted to meet your individual need - there is a lot of writing involved!

How long will I have to do this for?

That depends on you! I would suggest that for most people between 3 and 6 sessions is enough, but I have some clients who like to work on several issues consecutively.

Are you qualified?

Yes, i am fully qualified, and am a member of the National Hypnotherapy Society. I am also a member of NCPS, as I am a psychotherapeutic counsellor.

How can Hypnotherapy help with physical symptoms?

Yes! Our minds and bodies are connected - there is a very well known link between stress and life expectancy! Hypnotherapy (for IBS) is even available on the NHS. There are many physical symptoms that can be improved by the use of hypnotherapy.
